Review of the Antler Inn – Jackson Wyoming

Jackson Wyoming is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. Jackson is an incredibly cozy town tucked away in the mountains of Wyoming. Jackson is located directly beside Grand Teton National Park, making it the most conveinent place to stay if you’re visiting the area. Hosting hundreds of different stores ranging from fishing gear, to coffee shops, to unique furniture, eateries, and much more. That being said Jackson Hole’s popularity reflects in their prices of accommodations. Luckily there are many options of places to stay throughout the town including more humble options all the way to 5 star resorts, there’s truly something for every need.

The Antler Inn

A booming hotel owned and operated since the mid 1960’s Antler Inn has provided services to the great town of Jackson Wyoming for nearly 50 years. Centrally located just steps away from the busy downtown streets, this is the perfect spot for anyone looking to have the ability to walk and enjoy the downtown area without having to worry about parking or traffic. The Antler Inn provides a clean atmosphere with reasonable prices and is over all a stellar choice of where to stay when planning your trip out west.

Price and budgeting

We chose the embark on our trip last minute and were very limited on our options of places to stay. We chose one of the hotels in town that still had availability but was within our price range, narrowing down to the Antler Inn or The Virginian. We ended up choosing the Antler Inn for 2 reasons, the first being that the price was a little bit cheaper at The Antler Inn. The second reason being we agreed that the location was in a more convenient spot in regards to what all we wanted to do and see downtown. Over all we ended up paying roughly 1,100 dollars for a 5 night stay the first week of May 2025. May is a less busier season which did effect the price of our room. When looking for a place to stay I noticed that the price ranges vary drastically from month to month. That being said, it was cheaper during the months of May & October. The months of June-September almost doubled in price when we were searching when to go. You’ll have to determine what fits your needs best and what all you are wanting to get out of your vacation. If you’re okay with coming in the less busy season you may have to sacrifice warmer weather, but prices will be cheaper and crowds will be significantly lower. However, if you want to coming during the Summer months you will be able to enjoy all the hikes and everything you want to see is ensured to be open, but prices increase drastically, and you will need to expect an abundance of people during these months as well. This is how we landed on the month of May. That being said, we planned this trip rather last minute and we really wanted to be able to save up for a rental car and extra necessities for the trip so we looked to see if our stay at the Antler Inn could be cheaper in any way. We found an Airbnb listing for the hotel room we wanted and chose this route instead of using the hotels direct website. This allowed us to pay our hotel in payments over time with Klarna which saved us so much money during our trip.

Check-In

Normally checking in with hotels using Airbnb’s it’s pretty seamless. I have used Airbnb for years and I’ve always automatically been sent check in instructions through a message in your Airbnb app the day prior to your check in date. However, The Antler Inn through Airbnb did not do this. This is at no fault of The Antler Inn itself being as Airbnb is a 3rd party host. If you are looking at using Airbnb as your hosting service just keep in mind you will need to reach out to the host via message to figure out check in instructions (and all other questions). This was the only part of my stay that I was dissatisfied with, being as this led to us almost missing our check in from the office hours, a confusion about where to check in, room key drop off concerns, and we also weren’t sure where anything was when arriving. It didn’t ruin my experience with Antler Inn in the slightest, I just wasn’t prepared for needing to do that as any Airbnb I’ve ever used has made it very direct and seamless. I would recommend calling prior to your trip and asking the front desk any questions or concerns you have about the check in and out processes.

Service

All of the staff at The Antler Inn were incredibly kind and willing to help. When I reached out earlier to let the staff know I would be a few minutes late they were happy to accommodate me and were pleasant even when we came in late at night. We were handed our key cards and told about the services the hotel offers, and a little bit about the surrounding area. Another thing I did not expect when staying here was the room maintenance. The staff come in each and every day to provide your room with clean towels and they put new linens on your bed. This made our week long stay so much more comfortable, since some places do not offer this especially if you’re renting through Airbnb.

Convenience (and quality)

This hotel offers the most convenient over night location in town. You’re located within eye shot of the famous Antler arches and less than a 2 minute walk from the famous Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. The location itself is worth the price. When it comes to comfort inside, each room is decorated with beautiful head boards that look like antlers, impeccably clean bed linens, and any item of furniture you may need, all styled to make you feel like you’re in a rustic log cabin. The queen beds were extremely comfortable and had news linens put on them daily. The bathroom was clean and had great water pressure, as well as plenty of sink space angled so we were able to have privacy while getting ready. The only thing I would say could be improved would have been the quality of the A/C unit. Even on the coldest setting, the room rarely got cold unless it was the middle of the night.

The hotel serves a small complementary breakfast each morning, however it is 1st come 1st serve so you may be better off finding a spot to eat within walking distance. Personally, we went to Snake River Brewing Company every morning, but we passed a few breakfast spots even on this 5 minute walk. The hotel also offers a hot tub located right beside the main office, however it looked a little unkept and we decided not to risk it. If this is something you are really wanting, there are 2 hot springs within driving distance (Astoria Hot Springs & Granite Hot Springs).

Over all experience

Overall I greatly enjoyed our stay at the Antler Inn. Although I do think the communication could have been better as well as the transparency of the quality of certain areas, (advertise as an Inn but does say Motel) I still was really pleased with our room and the location of the property. I strongly believe communication would have been better had we booked directly with the hotel. From what is advertised on their website it does look like they have multiple options of rooms as well, some had king suites decorated with fireplaces, and some had queen beds with 2 twin beds so there are plenty of options dependent on your need. The staff seemed eager to help in any way and I strongly believe they would have fixed our A/C unit had we presented the problem. I would recommend staying here if you’re looking for a charming, and clean spot that is nearby to all of downtown. However there are some higher quality options that may suit your needs better such as The Virginian, The lodge at Jackson Hole, or The Elk Refuge Inn. I greatly enjoyed that we were located 6 minutes away from Grand Teton National Park itself. Almost every destination that you likely have on your bucket list is within an hours drive from here. I also enjoyed that we were tucked away in a back corner of the city and were not directly in the middle of downtown, while still being so close to everything near by. I would keep Antler Inn as an option for your future stays in Jackson Hole Wyoming. I believe it could meet the needs of you and your family, while being in an affordable price range, as well keeping you within walking distance of many stores and restaurants, over all making your stay convenient and comfortable.
